The Incubator: "Thing" exhibition, by The Wild Salmon

From 14/07 to 23/07

"Thing" is an object taken from an old warehouse. Without knowing where it comes from or what it's for, The Wild Salmon sets out to investigate the possibilities of the object.

Ignorance prevents prejudice, allowing one to freely muse upon the added value that any everyday object can obtain.

"Thing" takes shape in three forms: physical, photographic and audiovisual, revealing itself in each of the uncommon uses proposed by The Wild Salmon.

The Wild Salmon is a group of architects with social concerns which researches and works towards the democratisation of design. It analyses conventional situations and objects, close to obsolescence, and gives them new incentive through a value. Using saving strategies, it establishes mechanisms and actions to develop architectural curiosities.

The FAD Incubator, an initiative which enjoys the collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Hall, has the objectives of fostering the development of a culture of design investigation, promoting emerging designers and connecting them to the industry and upholding design as a social value.

This third edition has received 94 projects from young design, architecture, arts and graphic communication professionals from all over Catalonia. Out of these, 12 have been selected for display in the FAD Crypt and 8 have been chosen to develop investigation projects in the field of design.
