In total 336 projects were recognised, distributed as follows: 41 Gold Laus, 85 Silver Laus and 210 Bronze Laus. Also a Young Talent Award.
Organised since 1964, the ADG Laus Awards have reached their 54th edition this year with more than 1,400 projects entered. In total 336 projects were recognised, distributed as follows: 41 Gold Laus – including a Young Talent Award, 85 Silver Laus and 210 Bronze Laus.
The Honorary Laus went to the designer Enric Satué, a modeller of the renaissance of 1970s graphic design and promoter of research into the history of design, and the Laus for Businesses and Entities went to Vila Viniteca for the sensitivity to and integration of design as a crucial part of a project.
Categories of the ADG Laus Awards
There are eight categories in the ADG Laus Awards: Editorial and Art Direction, Packaging, Branding, Aporta (Contribute), Graphic Communication and Advertising, Audiovisual, Digital and Students. In each category the projects compete to win the Bronze Laus, Silver Laus and Gold Laus.
The winners of a Gold Laus in each category become eligible for a Grand Laus, and in the case of students, for a Young Talent award. This year, in the absence of unanimity in the voting, the juries did not recognise any of the Gold Laus winners with a Grand Laus.
41 entries recognised with a Gold Laus
The Bakoom studio won two Golds for the Latent Festival in Terrassa, in the categories of Graphic Communication and Advertising, and in Digital for breaking with the graphic line expected of a design festival and for giving new value to the cooperation, closeness and resilience of an endangered space.
Also noteworthy in the Graphic Communication and Advertising are the Gold Laus awarded to two projects that greatly identified with their territories: to Palouzié Studio for the design of the campaign for the Diada Nacional de Catalunya 2023, Catalonia’s national day, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya government, and to the Democràcia® Valencian studio for the graphic image of the 2023 Fallas festival for Valencia City Council.
Prominent in the Editorial and Art Direction category are the two Golds won by the Albert Romagosa studio for two very different projects: the book on the 50 years of Muebles 114 and the graphic art for the Tallers Oberts BCN festival.
In the Audiovisual category, a Gold Laus went to the “Ajedrez + Pareja” project for the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival by the China agency, a surrealist tribute to the global impact of Hitchcock’s oeuvre.
In Packaging the jury wanted to underscore the work of Ona Studio for Anchoas Agur, which was recognised with a Gold Laus and set out to differentiate their packaging from that of their competitors through colour and textured raised embossing.
Finally, the Laus Young Talent for students went to the Divino wine brand creation project, by Víctor García Gutiérrez of the ERAM-UdG University School for the Arts, where design is viewed as a transformative tool in specific contexts and settings and may become the voice of a territory.
