MATERTalk: Circular Matter

ho

Hand in hand with PlasticPeople and Alier, we will explore pioneering initiatives and innovative strategies for circularity in the field of materials.

This 2025, MATERFAD is launching a new series of periodic meetings to explore fresh perspectives on materiality. The MATERTalks provide a common space for creatives from all disciplines to discover inspiring initiatives, explore new practices, and create a positive impact through a responsible, informed, and creative selection of materials.

Circularity in the field of new materials will be the first topic of discussion in this new series. With the participation of PlasticPeople and Alier, we will discover pioneering initiatives in the development of solutions that transform discarded materials into valuable resources, with a regenerative perspective that drives the development of local sectors and communities. Moreover, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with physical samples of the materials presented, allowing them to explore these up close and appreciate their sensory qualities.

The event will feature presentations from both initiatives, followed by a roundtable discussion moderated by Robert D. Thompson, MATERFAD’s scientific director, where we will delve into the potential of these materials and learn about strategies for circularity in design and architecture. To conclude the event, we will share an informal networking space to exchange ideas and concerns with other participants.
