2 intensive days, 30 design students, 7 experts in fashion and sustainability, 150 kg of recovered textile material. If you are a student, MODA-FAD Sustainable Challenge 2019 offers you the possibility of using your creativity to transform textile remnants into new products of value with their own brand.
Curated by Makeo (Roberto Piqueras and Eme Rock) and part of the RE/-Barcelona Sustainable Fashion Global Event, on 29 and 30 November thirty students of fashion and other design disciplines, under the direction of experts in the different areas involved in the fashion industry, will work in groups to develop new products made from textile remnants provided by Roba Amiga.
Upcycling, the recycling of fibres, giving a new dignity to waste, innovation, responsibility, design and creativity will be some of the tags of this creative exercise, which will be undertaken in a context of informal learning where cross-cutting, interdisciplinary work will be promoted under a paradigm with gender perspective and with the aim of encouraging the learning of sustainable design to drive a social benefit.
This project is open to students of any discipline connected to the fashion and design industry: graphic design, product design, advertising, marketing, styling, pattern design, textile, visual engineering, management, etc. Participants will be guided by renowned tutors and experts that will help them to give shape to the proposals to be developed. Among this council of experts we will find names such as Krizia Robustella (design), Victor von Schwarz (pattern design), Back to eco (market and sustainability) and Robert Thompson (Materfad. Materials Centre). Instax will be the official camera. Each team will have a camera to take pictures of the creation process. They will also have the new Instax Mini Link printers to print mobile photos that can be used as part of the creative process.
